The Iron Age exhibition is a sculptural art exhibit that represents the current indifference to war, represented by iconic twist balloon weapons cast in iron. Objects in the exhibit symbolize past and current weapons associated with war, such as airplanes, long-swords, pistols, rifles, sabers, and tanks. Twist balloons are sculpted into such weapons and cast into iron and painted with bright, colorful enamel paint. Through bonded sand molds and ceramic shell molds, the balloons are cast. The transformation of objects and the triviality of toys and war are the significance and representation in the exhibition. The work for this exhibit was created thanks to the USD 2018 U. Discover Scholars Program award; a 10-week summer program with a $3000 stipend. The exhibition was displayed at the Coyote Twin Gallery in Vermillion, South Dakota in April 2019.
